Every time I finish an Autumn Jones Lake book, I think this hero is my favorite. How could she possibly top herself in the next book? After finishing Beyond Reason I feel that way again. When I was 20% into the book I thought, "OMG I am only 20% in and have all the feels already." This story takes you on a trip that has so many twists and turns. Guiding you through the whole thing is Teller. Teller is steady and strong. His love for Charlotte knows no bounds. They are a couple that has fit together right from the start. Charlotte, like Teller has had major life experiences that have shaped her into the woman she is today. They have both come through to the other side better people then they were before. Their chemistry is hot, passionate and burns just as bright as it did in Beyond Reckless. What I love about all of Autumn's books is that as a reader you get more then just a hot love story. You are given a series that has such a solid foundation. The characters and dialogue are so very well written. I know that when I start the book I won't want to put it down.
For fans of the Loki series, all of the previous characters play a role in the current story. This adds such a richness to Beyond Reason. I find myself re-reading the dialogue between the characters and smiling. Scenes of the guys in church are some of my favorite. Charlotte & Wrath's scene is priceless. She does have a big brass pair! The interaction between them all shows a true sense of family and all of the loyalty, dysfunction and love that goes with it.
For me, the secondary characters have become so important to the series as well. Loco is hilarious. His almost hero worship of Rock is so entertaining. Whistler has proven to be a strong ally. Carter is mouthy and complex. I wonder where his journey will take him. Remy and Griffin, we are given a tease. Just enough to make us wonder who they are and will they be a spin off series? Malik, will he prospect?
The Lost Kings is one of my favorite series of all time. I look forward to each new release with so much excitement! The deeper you go into the series the better it gets. Please don't skip the novellas. They are so good and continue the storyline. Autumn please don't stop writing this group of men. I would read more of all of them. And, For Goodness Sakes please don't have Z start his own charter somewhere else!

Ok, I was one of those readers that was ticked off that the last book ended on a cliffhanger and we weren't told beforehand. I still disliked not warning readers upfront if the book is going to be a cliffhanger so the reader can make a fully informed decision about whether to buy the book now or wait for both books to be out (which is what I like to do). But...I must admit that Charlotte and Teller's story was complex and probably couldn't be told in one book, and, I really LOVED their story!!!!

Rock and Hope are still my favorites but Teller and Charlotte have moved to 2nd place. There are some really tender moments between them but what I really loved was the way Teller stood by Charlotte, no matter what and how he tried to give her every thing she needed. There's a part in the book where Charlotte is into something kinky and Teller gets advice on how to please her while making sure he's not harming her physically or emotionally, that's when I fell in love with him. No matter what it may have cost him, he was 100% in her corner, whether it meant putting up with her smart aleck brother or her uncle who was in a rival gang, or members of LOKI, who didn't trust her. I loved Charlotte fierce independence, loyalty to Teller and her savvy, she had to navigate a lot of scary situations but she did it with grace and kept her wits about her. I also love how the couples in former books make an appearance so we get to keep up with what's happening to them. Great couple and I look forward to the next book.
Whereas BEYOND RECKLESS left us with some open ends; BEYOND REASON closed things up. I felt the sinister Uncle Chuck and in this book he's still sinister but it wasn't what I'd feared. Thing is; Uncle Chuck needs to keep his hands to himself! Uncle Chuck is still evil......just not as evil as I feared. The true evil was Charlotte's Mother and what she'd become. So much promise when she was young and in love and later on to become a drug whore. Made me sad for her, the man she married, and Uncle Chuck.

I was gladdened to see the continuing romance between Marcel and Charlotte grow and flourish; albeit with a dark cloud hanging overhead that kept this reader guessing what the heck had happened to Charlotte those 5/6 years prior.

The Club member, their women, even brother Carter.......it all charmed me. Even baby Alexa was a wonder to read because the little lady is developing her own personality and I'd guess she'll give Papa Murphy a ride for his money when the boys start hanging around the homestead.

Now, the ominous 'epilogues'....okay the first one speaks for itself but he second one can I guess who GRACE belongs to? I'll whisper it.....Rock and Hope. If Grace is their child I want the details which means I need another Rock/Hope book (even a novella could be satisfying to this reader). I don't see Grace as being Wrath's child because if he had a daughter he'd never let her out of his arms.

All is all; this second book was anti-climatic in some ways but we needed the answers and those answers had to come in a certain timeline......I get it.

I love Marcel's (Teller) love story. Charlotte was exactly what he needed and when he needed it. She did heal him in many ways. That they would end up with twins would make his quest for all things family, complete.

GREAT book, this one, and it's lead-in book. I can't wait for Afterburn.......VERY curious to know what that will be about. More of Wrath, maybe......LOVE Wrath. Love them all actually. Thank you.
