Though this is the first novel I've read by Harry Hunsicker, I'm ready to call myself a fan. The story certainly doesn't break new ground (the antagonists are part of a religious cult that own most of this small west Texas town), but that doesn't make it any less entertaining. Arlo Baines is fleshed out very well. You feel his pain, and most importantly, you believe his pain. His back story could have been overwrought in lesser hands. I would gladly follow Arlo on another adventure...Hannah too, for that matter. They made for a pretty good pairing.

This is my first time reading this author, it will not be my last. Devil's Country is the kind of book you sit down with a pot of tea in your favorite chair and get ready for a great read. I am looking forward to other titles by this author.
I enjoyed the book although I don't read these kind of books involving children, but it was well written so I liked it. Arlo seemed to be the main character and I liked him. He had a good head on his shoulders so he kept it interesting. A good read.
Very scary story, almost as good as Lee Child's books (Jack Reacher) . Why does it always take so much for people to see what's going on around them? I know it's just a story but I'm sure there are plenty of cults around that people just ignore if it doesn't affect them. Shame on them.
What an awesome story and very well written. The video highlights enhanced the story immensely, almost like watching a movie but not. The page enhancement s were also quite special. I highly recommend reading this very unique book and I'll be following this author!
I love this guy's books, and read one between every serious book. Simple plot, decent characters and always a nice twist just when you think you've got the ending figured out.

The version had little video clips built into the story. Cute!
This was my first read by Mr. Hunsicker. I was not disappointed! He made the sights and smells of west Texas seem real. Nice job.

The plot was as authentic as it gets in today's times, unfortunately.

This was also my first experience with the video element of book reading. Kind of cool.

I'll certainly read more of this author's books.

Finished reading Mr. Hunsicker’s The Devil’s Country. A very enjoyable read. The book offered a continuously moving, entertaining plot with unique characters. I also appreciated how the author introduced aspects of Texas demonstrating his knowledge of the area. Having recently completed research on my next project set in West Texas, the manner in which he presented the elements of that area again displays Mr. Hunsicker’s talent for creating accurate settings. Until I read this book, I did not know about in Motion, which added an entertainment value to the contents. Nice touch by the author casting himself as Jimmy, the bartender. A recommended read.
