I was a thief.
The invisible girl only he could see.
The woman who wanted to be more.
He was the mark.
The extraordinary cowboy who stole my sixteen-year-old heart.
The damaged man who still owned it, even four years later.
The Line was where we began.
Where fates collided.
Where truths derailed.
The place where our love story ends.

Before being found and taken in by Momma Lou, Everly had been homeless. True, from time to time she technically had places found for her by the foster care system, but time and again she found reason to flee them and make her way back to the train station where she'd been abandoned as a baby. The closest thing to a true home she'd ever known.Working the line, the passengers passing through day after day, she'd did what she needed to survive with little regard for the legalities involved or the feelings of those she preyed upon, but there was that one night that always stuck out. One handsome stranger who, unlike almost every other person she'd ever encountered, only wanted to help.
Years later, now a well fed, mostly adjusted member of society on the cusp of making her own way in the world at the ripe old age of nineteen, Momma Lou finds Evelyn a summer job on a farm that will hopefully earn her enough money to be able to attend school, and though tentative about spreading her wings beyond the only place she's truly felt welcomed in her young life she's never been one to shy away from the difficult choices.
Of course, as luck would have it, upon arriving at her new home for the summer, she once again encounters the beautiful cowboy from the train all those years ago, and while her recollections of that night have been a comfort to her ever since, he remembers things quite differently, and as the passing of time tends to effect, neither of them are now what they once were.
Last year i took a chance on a first time author and was blown away with how incredibly good her debut novel was, and now, having finished her second, a completely unrelated standalone, I can only wonder how long it will be before word gets out and she takes her place among the superstars of the indie publishing community.
In all honesty, with still more than half a year left in 2017, I have no hesitation in suggesting that this book is almost certain to feature in my top ten books of the year. Amie Knight has crafted a story with sensitivity and depth. With characters that endear themselves to the reader as much as they frustrate.
From the lovable, over-the-top Cody whose brashness and boyish charm occasionally give way to a sensitive and fragile underside, to Cole, broken and bitter, reeling from betrayals that rocked the very foundations of his self identity, to Joe, the wheelchair bound owner of the property who, in contrast to our hero Cole, is broken in body but so very filled with the joy of life.
Each form rich and complex relationships with our multifaceted heroine, but all is not what it seems and while some of the plot twists are telegraphed in advance for the reader to wonder exactly how they might play out, others are played close to the vest to catch the reader unawares. All however and delivered deftly and with grace in a dual perspective narrative that is dazzling in its ability to evoke emotion, an stunning in it's ability to convey the most subtle of nuance
Of the 93 romance novels I've read thus far this calendar year, this one is my absolute favorite.

The Line edition by Amie Knight Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
Every so often I come across a rare gem of a book... and this wonderful bittersweet romance is such a story......
The wonderfully enchanting and original plot follows Everly from street urchin to a woman of strength and courage, and the wonderful group of men and women whom she meets on her journey Momma Lou, Joe, Cody (I love his outrageous flirting) , and of course Cole....sometimes in life strangers are more like family than the real thing, and love can be found in the most unexpected of places..
This story is about loss and chance lost love, lost trust, lost opportunities, and chance encounters, chance discoveries and second chances; Everly and ‘her’ cowboy Cole experience all of these along the way..and if all this wasn’t enough then Cole is perfect .. hot, possessive (in a good way), protective and a gentleman (in a deliciously bad way) and Everly is his match and more in every way...she is ‘.... fireflies and freedom...’..I had so many favourite moments in this story, but one of the best first dates, ever, has to be at the top of my list....
The author has a clear and easy to read voice , describing vivid scenes and believable and diverse characters..there is humour, drama, kindness and hope and above all else there is love, in so many different guises, within these pages....I received a copy of this book through the Quirky Blind Date with a Book
This book is definitely one emotion filled roller coaster... or train journey!
Everly is a girl down on her luck. She's sad and defeated and you can't blame her for feeling lost and alone most of the time. When she gets ushered off to work on a farm for the summer, Everly is understandably terrified and doesn't know how much her life is about to change.
Cole has been burnt and wears the scars like armour. Armour he can't let go of and move on. So when Everly, Cole's Eve, shows up on the farm he isn't impressed with how easily she slips beneath his so precariously built walls.
This book takes you on a ride you can't get off. You don't even want to try. You need to ride it to then end even if it breaks your heart, streaks your cheeks with salty tears and make you hold your breath hoping both Cole and Everly can let go of the years of sadness and get their HEA.
This is Amie Knight’s sophomore novel and, once again, she’s blown me away. Knight is quickly becoming known for not only her ability to tell a powerful and moving story, but also the captivating way in which she does it. Her words drew me in from the start, commanding my full attention as I took this incredible journey along with Cole and Everly.
A sexy, second-chance love story set against the sultry Southern backdrop of a Georgia peach farm, The Line landed a direct hit right to the feels. Knight didn’t hold back as she layered in the emotion here – I laughed, I cried and I swooned as I devoured this gorgeous love story. The Line was an addictive mix of heartbreak and hope combined with the perfect balance of angst and humor, and it came together beautifully into this charming, tender and passionate romance.
I am so immensely impressed with this author and her ability to tell these gorgeous, poignant stories. It takes a truly special talent to do justice to a story like this, and Knight has demonstrated – twice now – that this kind of emotionally complex tale is totally her jam. There was so much here to enjoy and appreciate, and when I turned the last page, it was with a smile on my face and a full, happy heart. Amie Knight’s The Line gets five smooches from me.
